Training Programs
Direct instruction helping a person be able to have the basic skills necessary to function independently in a manner similar to same age peers, such as dressing, making purchases at a store, staying in a car seat, bathing independently, brushing teeth, finding apartments or employment opportunities for older kids, crossing the street, general public safety.
LPN and RN Nursing skills provided in the home setting including trachea and vent training, monitoring medications, checking vitals and weight.
Social tint to this. Adaptations and modifications.
Helping a parent learn how to understand a child’s behavior, integrate therapy into daily routines, problem solve, talk about where the child is in relation to same-age peers and how to get the child to the next level. Examples include getting the child to sit at the dinner table at dinner time, transitions (including bottle to cup, etc.), changing teachers, transition from home and school, establishing a broad support base for parents to provide a sense of normalization.
How children interact with others, developing friendships, etc.
Ensuring the child is receiving the most appropriate and beneficial services from therapists, schools, and funding services. Making sure the child and family have a voice, knowing what their rights are and that they are maintained to allow them to get their needs met in a way that will be productive.
